Brandi Chaney

The beginning of her fight...

Brandi's 1st symptoms started in June of 2010 as a lower back ache. By October many stomach problems began, heartburn, diarrhea and pains. She went to several doctors, had several x-rays, but no diagnosis. In November she saw a specialist. Again many test were done. Ce-Dif was the diagnosis. Treatable with antibiotics. Her body did't respond. By now her weight loss had become a concern. On a follow up visit, the doctor felt something unusual in her lower stomach. He sent her the next day for a CT scan. By that afternoon she got the news that there was a mass in her lower right pelvic area. A biopsy confirmed it was cancerous. She had lost 30lbs! She was immediately referred to a Gynecologic Oncologist. Surgery was scheduled for Dec.28th. A complete hysterectomy was performed, appendix and a tumor the sizeof a football was removed. 80% of the cancer was removed, the other 20% would be treated with chemo and possibly radiation. A port was put in place and she was released from the hospital. Chemo began 3 weeks later and still ongoing. Ovarian cancer often starts silently, not showing symptoms until it progresses. Brandi's symptoms could all be accounted for every day pains. She always had her yearly check up and had no problems until now. With the help of Brandi and Rhett's families and friends she is fighting this disease. With much faith, prayers, love and support she will achieve her goal....   REMISSION! ROCK the TEAL for Brandi!
